Michigan/Phoenix Trip 2017
Missions Highlight - Dearborn 2015 from CCV on Vimeo.
CCV is proud to partner with a team in Dearborn, Michigan aimed at outreach to the large population of Arab-American, Muslim immigrants. Through relationships and community service, and direct spiritual conversations, the team envisions a city transformed. We will be strategic in bringing what we learn home to Phoenix and our growing population of international immigrants, asylum seekers, and refugees.
The team will come back to Phoenix half way through and continue the mission trip locally in Phoenix alongside GoTen Ministries here locally.
Trip Dates: June 1-7, 2017
REGISTRATION: You can register by clicking the red "Register" button to the left. Registration deadline is April 15. If you are interested in this trip beyond that date, please email LisaHorner@ccv.church.
Trip Leader: Bobby Cox, CCV Volunteer
Who can go?
This is a great on ramp for people looking to engage international students, refugees, etc locally from home, but anyone is invited to come and learn.
Singles, couples, retirees, especially those with a desire to serve local international residents. Adults over 18 must pass a Background Check/Volunteer Screening as a requirement, and all participants must have valid passport and be physically able to walk and work. Minimum age for a child traveling WITH a parent/guardian should be 16. Please contact us before registering children under 16. For minors wanting to travel without a parent, please contact us before registering.
Team Meetings - The team will gather for team meetings to do logistical and project prep but also training on cross-cultural ministry and spiritual prep. SAVE THE DATES: All teams will meet on Saturday afternoons, April 8, April 22, May 13 and then your team will meet another time or two in between there for more specific training!
Requirements: Each participant who signs up will be asked to attend CCV's Starting Point class (if you haven't already been) and submit a full volunteer application with background check, references, and interview. This will be initiated after you have signed up for the trip and is not an "application" indicating whether you can attend or not. They are purely steps in the preparation process. Each team member will also be required to attend all pre-trip preparation meetings.
Trip Cost: $900 per person
Included in this fee: Airfare from Phoenix to Detroit, accommodations, transportation and meals while in Dearborn and Phoenix. This also cover medical insurance and pre-trip materials.
Not included: Personal spending money for meals during travel and souvenirs. Dearborn has EXCELLENT cuisine, coffee, and pastry!
$500 deposit per person is non-refundable at the time of registration. If a cancellation is made after airline tickets have been purchased you will be responsible for the cost of the ticket.
Final Balance is due by May 15, 2017.
We absolutely encourage fundraising. Very few people pay for the trip on their own. Number 1 way is to send support letters. Tell your friends and family about the trip, share with them the ministry, and ask them to donate. Number 2 way is to put in some hard work and do garage sales and car washes, get together with other team members to make a bigger impact. You will talk about this when you get together as a team. Any donations made to CCV for your trip are tax deductible for the donor as long as they follow the instructions and give online or use the Covenant Form!
