Mission Trip - Liberia

Mission Trip - Liberia

CCV is excited to visit Liberia for the first time. Our partner in Kakata, Liberia has a community church and school. They have local enterprise to develop their community, have a church, and a school with over 1000 children enrolled. Our team will visit them for  the week in local service projects, soccer clinics, and children's activities.

One Page Overview: Liberia FAQ.pdf

Basic Information:
Trip Dates: February 22-March 4, 2018
REGISTRATION:  You can register by clicking the red "Register" button to the left. Registration deadline is January 5, 2018 at midnight.
Trip Leader: CCV Staff: Larrie Fraley, Nancy Coughlin, Jason Lobmeyer.

Who can go?
This is a great trip option for someone looking for a challenge and who is willing to be out of their comfort zone. Participants must be 18 years or older and in good physical health. Minors aged 16-17 need to be accompanied by a parent.

Team Meetings - The team will gather for team meetings to do logistical and project prep but also training on cross-cultural ministry and spiritual prep. SAVE THE DATES: All teams will meet on Saturday afternoons, January 20, February 3, February 17 and then your team will meet another time or two in between there for more specific training!

Requirements:
Each participant who signs up will be asked to attend CCV's Starting Point class (if you haven't already been) and submit a full volunteer application with background check, references, and interview. This will be initiated after you have signed up for the trip and is not an "application" indicating whether you can attend or not. They are purely steps in the preparation process. Each team member will also be required to attend all pre-trip preparation meetings.

Trip Cost: $3000
Included in this fee: Airfare from Phoenix to Monrovia, Liberia, accommodations, transportation and meals while in country.  This also cover medical insurance, visa fee, luggage fees, and pre-trip materials.
Not included: Passport fees, any shots you elect to get, and any personal spending money for meals during travel and souvenirs.

$300 deposit per person is non-refundable at the time of registration. If a cancellation is made after airline tickets have been purchased you will be responsible for the cost of the ticket.

Final Balance is due  by February 15, 2018.

FUNDRAISING, Donations, and Payment INFORMATION:
We absolutely encourage fundraising. Very few people pay for the trip on their own. Number 1 way is to send support letters. Tell your friends and family about the trip, share with them the ministry, and ask them to donate. Number 2 way is to put in some hard work and do garage sales and car washes, get together with other team members to make a bigger impact. You will talk about this when you get together as a team. Any donations made to CCV for your trip are tax deductible for the donor as long as they follow the instructions and give online or use the Covenant Form!

Where will we be staying?
You will stay at a guesthouse in Kakata, Liberia that is the recommended stay by our mission partner.

Do I need a passport?
A Valid passport is required for all participants. Passport cannot expire within 6 months of the trip's return date and cannot be damaged in any way. Please visit travel.state.gov for up to date information and to apply or renew.

Do I need to get any shots? Where can I get shots?
Please visit cdc.gov/travel for up to date vaccination requirements for your destination. Yellow Fever vaccination is required for entry to Liberia and proof of vaccination must be presented upon arrival. Zika virus is also present in Liberia. There are lots of great travel clinics in the valley to get your shots, so you can find one close and convenient for you.

A visa is required for those who have a valid USA passport that doesn't require within 6 months. We will assist you in the paperwork.
