Mission Trip - Austria - FULL

Dates: April 24-May 4, 2018
Trip size: 18 people
Team Leader: Josh and Kristen Warren, CCV Staff
Registration Deadline:  Registration deadline for this trip has passed. Please pray for the team headed to Austria!

Who can go?

We need servants willing to have long days on your feet. You'll be prepping meals, doing dishes, housekeeping, and serving to help facilitate the graduation ceremony.  Every participant needs to be in strong physical condition able to be on your feet, walk a lot and negotiate stairs.

Each participant needs to be age 18+ and will be asked to attend CCV's Starting Point class (if you haven't already been) and submit a full volunteer application with background check, references, and interview. This will be initiated after you have signed up for the trip and is not an "application" indicating whether you can attend or not. They are purely steps in the preparation process. Each team member will also be required to attend all pre-trip preparation meetings.

TEAM MEETINGS: The team will be required to meet for minimum three team meetings for training- January 20, 11:30am-2:00pm, February 3, 11:30am-2:00pm, February 17, 11:30am-2:00pm. Team may meet for one or two additional meetings for more specific trip planning.

Trip Cost:

$1,400 per person includes plane tickets, lodging, insurance, and food while at Haus Edelweiss. This does not cover any additional costs for passports, shots, or meals during travel time.

$150 non-refundable deposit is due at the time of registration. If a cancellation is made after airline tickets have been purchased you will also be responsible for the cost of the airline ticket.

Miscellaneous Costs to expect during your stay: Afternoon outings, one day in Vienna, souvenirs, and meals on travel days in airports.

What volunteers do:

TCM is a graduate level training school for Eastern European Pastors. They bring in volunteers during class sessions who take care of all the meal preparation and serving, grounds keeping, housekeeping, and maintenance while the students are in class. Jobs vary from house-and-grounds projects (mowing lawns, etc.) to food preparation and serving, setting tables, dusting, sweeping, changing bed linens, doing laundry, etc.
As a short-term worker, you, alongside our full-time and long-term staff, serve the Eastern European Christians who come to study with TCM.Expect to work hard 12 hours each day. You will rise up early and go to bed tired. There are also many stairs to climb in the course of a day's work, so the workermust have good physical strength and stamina. TCM will screen each applicant medically and determine if you will be successful and be able to complete the duties required.

In the evenings after the dinner cleanup, there is opportunity for prayer, personal Bible study, reading, walks on the trails in the Vienna Woods, board games, outdoor games (e.g., ping pong, basketball, volleyball), and swimming.

Food and Lodging:

TCM provides lodging and meals during your stay. Costs for dining out and traveling for pleasure are to be paid by the worker.
You will be staying in a clean, comfortable room similar to college dormitory housing. You will be assigned a room as soon as you arrive. Each room has indoor plumbing, hot water, etc., and is very comfortable. Each married couple is assigned to their own room. If you are traveling alone, you may be assigned a roommate

The Haus is physically isolated in a small valley near Vienna. It is not close to shopping areas or other tourist attractions. The area is rural.

A Valid passport is required for all participants. Passport cannot expire within 6 months of the trip's return date and cannot be damaged in any way. Please visit travel.state.gov for up to date information and to apply or renew.

There are no shot requirements, but an updated Tetanus shot is Strongly Recommended for ALL trips.

We absolutely encourage fundraising. Very few people pay for the trip on their own. Number 1 way is to share this opportunity with your friends and family and ask them to participate with you by helping you get there!
